About Us

The Surf and Skate Studies Collaborative (SSSC) at San Diego State University (SDSU) is an interdisciplinary research collaboration of SDSU faculty from a variety of academic disciplines across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences that focuses on the lifestyle sports of surfing and skateboarding and their various progeny like snowboarding and windsurfing. The SSSC serves as a space for scholars and artists from around the world to share their work in a variety of venues, including international conferences, an international journal, guest lectures, movie screenings, technology/innovation workshops, art exhibits and community outreach. The SSSC also offers courses on surfing and skateboarding for students at San Diego State University. Students will soon be able to earn a certificate in Board Studies under the umbrella of the new Sport and Society major/minor offered at San Diego State.

The College Skateboarding Educational Foundation (CSEF) provides a brand new opportunity for skateboarders to build better futures for themselves. Regardless of financial assets or personal network, everyone deserves a chance at pursuing a college education. Skateboarders are no exception.

Through CSEF’s scholarship fund, skateboarders all over the country will be given essential assistance with completing their goals in school and in life.
