Tony and Steve Hawk

Tony and Steve Hawk

Tony's long and storied history as a professional skateboarder has enabled him to pursue a career with global reach, making him the most recognized action-sports figure in the world. He is the founder of Birdhouse Skateboards and also president of Tony Hawk, Inc. Still skating into his 50s, Tony regularly appears on television and in films and frequently takes his talent on the road with the Birdhouse team. His success and good fortune have inspired him to help young skaters, and in 2002 he launched the Tony Hawk Foundation (now The Skatepark Project), which to date has donated more than $10 million to help build 650+ skateparks in the U.S.

Steve Hawk, a lifelong surfer, is the former editor of Surfer magazine and former editorial director at Surfline.com. He has been a journalist for more than 30 years, starting as a newspaper reporter before moving into magazines. He also served as a staff writer and surf consultant on the HBO television series John From Cincinnati. He was the founding executive director of the Tony Hawk Foundation, which became The Skatepark Project in 2020. In 1977, he gave his younger brother Tony one of his old skateboards; that board is now in the Smithsonian Museum.

Selema Masekela

Selema Masekela

Selema Masekela is a beloved commentator, journalist, musician, activist and producer best known for his work across NBC, VICE, E!, ESPN, Nat Geo & beyond. With decades of action sports journalism under his belt, including the Red Bull Signature Series, Summer and Winter X Games, Vice World of Sports, his cultural reporting in South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and so much more, Masekela is often considered an action sports evangelist.
